Dr Pierre Hili has been serving as Chairperson of the SEA Focal Point since 2020. He is also currently a member of the Planning Commission of the Planning Authority. He previously held the post of Assistant Director at the Ministry for Finance and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has served as Counsellor at Malta’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and at the Permanent Representation of Malta to FAO in Rome. He also taught for a number of years sustainable development issues at the University of Malta and chemistry at secondary school level.

Dr. Hili has a B.Ed. (Hons.) in chemistry and biology, a post-graduate diploma in environmental planning, and M.Sc. in environmental management. He is also a doctoral graduate with a Ph.D. on the politics of sustainable development in small island states and Education for Sustainable Development for high-level policy-makers.
